Willie Snipes

Willie Ruth Snipes was born April 19, 1934 to the late Irene Porter and Plumber Blevins in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. At an early age she confessed hope in Christ and never strayed from her belief. During her life she moved from Alabama to Brooklyn, New York and resided there for quite some time.
Willie eventually moved from Brooklyn, New York to Danville, Virginia where she remained until her health failed. While residing in Danville she became a faithful member at Bible Way Cathedral under the leadership of Rev. Bishop Lawrence G. Campbell. She was very active in the church and served in many capacities. Willie sang in the choir, a member of the Helping Hand Auxiliary, Custodian to the church and above all a faithful member to the church for 30 years. When Willie returned back to Bessemer she joined First Baptist Church, Old Jonesboro under the pastorate of Emanuel Davis.
On Wednesday, April 27, 2020 Willie transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Left to cherish her precious memories are children, Russell Blevins, Jenean Blevins, Will Snipes, Jr. and Mary King; ten granchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Vera Riddle and Ollie Ross; caregivers, Patricia (David) Summerville, Laura Eaton, LaShonta Ward, Sha’Miah McGruder and Henry McGruder; lifelong friend, Shirley Miller; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins & friend from Danville, Virginia.
