Willie Moore

Deacon Willie L. Moore, Sr., "Shane" was born January 7, 1936 to Paul and Laura Moore in Greenwood, Mississippi and later moved to Bessemer, Alabama. Willie was a 1956 graduate of Dunbar High School. He was employed with Guaranty Shoe Store for many years. He was also employed with Bristol Steel and later with Jim Walter Resources, retiring in 1999. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Beulah Baptist Church where he has been an active member over 64 years. He has served as Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Usher, Choir Member, and was always willing to serve where needed; he loved his church. Willie was preceded in death by son, Lawrence "Pete" Owens; brothers, Clarence Conner, Joe Moore, Paul Moore, Jr., Jesse "Hammer" Moore and Tim Moore; parents, Paul and Laura Moore and a son-in-law, Reverend Stanley Brown. His spirit took flight and moved out of his body that housed it for 78 years on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 2:55 P.M. Precious memories of his life shall be cherished forever by: loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Barbara Moore; five sons, Tyrone (Juliet) Owens, Bessemer, AL, Pedro (LaShandra) Moore, Hoover, AL, Willie Moore, Jr., Darius Moore, Rodney Anderson, Birmingham, AL; five daughters, Yolanda Brown, Bessemer, AL, Sharee (Glenwood) Melton, Bronx, NY, Carla (Kendell) Blackmon, Jacksonville, FL, April (Doni) Calvin, Birmingham, AL, Staci Rice, Pleasant Grove, AL; one sister, Emma (Francis) Stevenson, Oakland, CA; one sister-in-law, Anita (Steve) Carver, Birmingham, AL; three brothers-in-law, Alan Anderson, Wayne Wallace both of Birmingham, AL and Jeffrey Bryant, Bessemer, AL; 33 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; He raised a cousin; Sheree Polk Turner and granddaughter Classy Moore Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and relatives.
