Willie Hicks

Brother Willie James Hicks was born April 8, 1951 to the late Willie Drake and Jessie Hicks Drake in Bessemer, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Bessemer City Schools. He departed this life Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 5:00 A.M. at BMC Princeton Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Funderlethia Pruitt and his wife, Josephine Summerville. He leaves to cherish his memories: a very special daughter, L-Tanya (Vidal) Tabb; three grandsons, Von Terrance Watson, Vidal Tabb Jr., and Vidarrius Tabb; one granddaughter, D'Niyah Watson, all of Bessemer, Alabama; four sisters, Deborah (Kenney) Johnson, Audrey Drake, Marchita (Michael) Conners, all of Cleveland, Ohio, Willie Mary of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; four brothers, Herbert Drake, Rodger Hicks, and Major Drake all of Cleveland, Ohio, Charlie Taylor of Bessemer, Alabama; two aunts Mary Lee Pate and Ester Cade both of Las Vegas, Nevada; two uncles, Elmore (Emma) Hicks, Wichita Falls, Texas, Roosevelt (Hattie) Hicks of Bessemer, Alabama; special friends, Brenda Jenkins and Mary Lo Hicks and a host of other relatives and friends.
