Willie Diggins

Deacon Willie Diggins was the last of five children born to the late Joe Diggins and Judy Hogan Diggins of Newbern, Alabama on January 27, 1924. After the death of his mother, his farther united in Holy Matrimony with Rachel Scott Diggins and to this union seven children were born. Deacon Diggins was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather: a hard worker, dedicated church and community member, and a humble servant of God. Deacon Diggins was educated in Newbern, Alabama and later served in the United States Army during World War II. He confessed his faith in Jesus Christ under Pastor R.L. Starkey at Antioch Baptist Church. He was a faithful member, Sunday school teacher, Deacon, and President of the Male Chorus. Deacon Diggins united in Holy Matrimony to Laura Bell Bryant. They were blessed with eleven children plus 2 others. He retired from U.S. Steel with 38 years of Service.
