Willie Curry-Cunningham

And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, write, blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. -Revelation 14:13 Mrs. Willie Ann Curry Cunningham, the third child born to the solemn union of the late Mr. James Turner and Mrs. Luevenia Smith Turner began her life in Faunsdale, Alabama and entered into eternal rest and ecstasy, Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in Bessemer, Alabama. From the beginning her life was shaped and enriched by experiences provided by her Christian parents. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 12 on March 29, 1929. Her pastor was Rev. W.M. Gaines of Hunter's Chapel Baptist Church. She attend school in Dallas County and had to walk several miles each day in pursuit of her early education. Her scholarly accomplishments were such that she was given duties to teach other students. Willie Ann Turner met and was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie Curry. To this union three sons were born: Samuel, James, and Charles. Bernice Williams is the sister of the three sons and daughter of Willie Curry. After the births of Samuel and James, the family moved to Bessemer, AL and united with, Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church) on the third Sunday in November 1937 under the pastoral care of Rev. I S. Hunter. She enjoyed serving in many areas to enhance the ministries of the church and felt blessed to have been anointed to do so. After the passing of her husband she took on the immense and huge role of rearing and educating her three boys and did it with dignity. She sent all three boys to college and introduced them to Christ. She began working for Avon Products Inc. where she won several awards for being the Outstanding Sales Person. This paved the way to her being promoted to Assistant Manager and, after a short period of time, District Manager. She continued to excel in her profession and was named Manager of the Year and won many bonuses and gifts. She married Deacon Charlie Cunningham on June 5, 1975 and our family was enriched and enlarged. She gained a husband, son and daughter-in-law (Michael Sr. & Jo Ann), daughter (Reba) 2 grand children, nine great-grand children and the entire Cunningham family. Deacon Cunningham passed away on September 26, 1984. Sister Cunningham was preceded in death by her parents, James and Luevenia Turner, five brothers: Jackson, President, Peter, Leroy, and Samson Turner, and two sons: Samuel and James Curry. She leaves to embrace her loving memory: her son Charles Curry (Pamela) Bernice Williams, her sister Rubye Delemus, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren, 5 nephews, 4 nieces, several cousins, and many other relatives and friends. She will live forever in the memory of those whose lives she touched.
