On November 14, 1974 Tonya Marie Steelman Collins was born to her loving parents Terry and Brenda Steelman in Athens, Alabama. Growing up she was educated in the Limestone County School system and was a graduate of West Limestone High School Class of 1993. It was only befitting for Tonya after to enroll in the EMS program since she always had a passion for helping anyone in need. In 2011, she graduated from the Calhoun Medic School program.
Once her career in EMS started, Tonya worked for several different companies: Keller EMS, Decatur EMS, Shoals EMS and she was a First Responder for four years. During this time, she volunteered with the Owens and Oak Grove Thatch Fire Department as a Firefighter and EMT.
Her passion to help anyone in need continued even after she had been diagnosed with cancer. Tonya fought to continue working and helping others for year. She was the most loving and caring daughter, mother and sister that anyone could ask for. She was well loved by anyone who met her. Her smile and radiant energy would introduce her in a room before she could say her name. She was the ultimate life of the party and continued to live her life to the fullest with every breath that she took.
She was preceded in death by loving father, Terry Steelman; grandparents, George and Elsie Steelman and Herbert and Bama Alexander; brother, Terry Duane Steelman.
Left to cherish her precious memories: children, Levi Johnson and Crystal (Cody) Roper; granddaughter, Madeline Johnson; two uncles; eight aunts; and a host of caring cousins.
