Tommy Bland, Jr.

On February 11, 1953, Tommy Bland, Jr., the second of five children was born to the late Tommy and Ruby Carter Bland, Sr. in Bessemer, Alabama.

He attended Bessemer City Schools and after graduation immediately enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. As he served his country, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Marketing) from Auburn University. Tommy, Jr. was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps on the 29th day of August, 1974. Afterwards, he finished his career at what is currently known as AT&T.

Tommy Jr. confessed Christ at an early age and united with Mount Hebron Baptist Church. He later became a of New Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus William H. Walker, then continued serving under Pastor T. Jefferson Rogers, Jr. He stepped across the threshold of death into the door of eternity on March 14,2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers; Earle and Don.

Tommy Jr. is survived by two sons, Steven and Michael Bland, and two daughters-in-law; siblings, Sharon (Douglas) Vincent and Stanley (Jackie) Bland; five grandchildren and a host of other beloved family members and friends.
