Brother Stanley Earl Bates, affectionately known as Blue, was born on August 26, 1951 in Woodward, Alabama to Mary E. Ferguson and Willie Spencer.
Stanley accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church Woodward. He was educated in the Jefferson County School System and attended Woodward Elementary, Pipe Shop School and Brighton High School.
As a young man, he married Twyanna Paige and to this union three children were born. After a few years of residing in Atlanta, GA Stanley returned to Alabama and was employed by varied employers including Butler Manufacturing Co. Stockham Valve Co., Baptist Medical Center Princeton Hospital and the Nu Deal Barbershop.
Stanley departed this life on Monday, December 3, 2018. His parents Mary and Carl E. Ferguson and his great grandparents, Evelyn and George Bates, a special aunt, Willie Lee Washington, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Tineka Bates-Peoples (Mark) of Fairfield, AL; two sons, Stanley Farrell Bates and Jarrett Rashadd Bates of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Timarkus, Jordan, Markayla, Ryan, Tamryn, and Caleb; one brother, James Bates (Glenda) of Birmingham, AL; one uncle, Oliver Ferguson (Clara) of Birmingham, AL; three special cousins, Ricky Jackson (Loretta) of Dolomite, AL, Evelyn Washington of Bessemer, AL, and Oscar Washington of Cleveland, OH; an uncle to a host of special nieces and nephews, Antonio D. Bates (Timicka), Keshia Bates-Rogers (Marcus), Damion Washington, Lamond Ward, Tara Moore (Charles), Jamil LeShore, Jacalyn Witherspoon(Robert), Latina Brooks(Darrin), Leslie Poole (William), Lester S. Moody and Terrell Echols (Amy); two special mothers, Sis. Marie Paige and Sis. Dorothy Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
