Sherlicia L, Small "Licia" was born on June 24, 1972 in Jefferson County, Alabama to Edward R. Small and Barbara J. Brown. She was educated in the Bessemer Public School System and graduated from Ensley High School in 1991. She furthered her education at Bessemer State Technical College. She confessed hope in Christ at 12 years of age, at First Baptist Church Ninth Street Bessemer, Al under the leadership of Rev. F.D. King. She was a member of the Unity Mass Choir, Voices of Angels choir, and youth advisor of the FBC youth choir. She remained a faithful member until her departure. Licia was a bundle of joy by nature. She loved everyone she came in contact with, never meeting a stranger. Her love, life, and her most cherished prize, were her children. Her family was very dear to her heart and she cared deeply for them. Licia's passion was being a caregiver for young children. Her 14 years, as a preschool educator, blessed many young children with a great start on life. The Lord saw fit to bring "Licia" to her eternal resting place on January 16th, 2014 at UAB West. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and cousin, Ashley Bibbs. Cherishing her great memories are her parents: Edward R. Small and Barbara J. Brown both of Bessemer, Al; her children Ty'Darrius D. Small-Dunn and Markya J. Small of Bessemer, AL.; three sisters, Stacie S. Wright, Bessemer, Al; Kenisha R. Small, Fairfield, AL; Lalicia Harrell Bates, Birmingham, AL; one brother, Anthony Roemer, Seattle, WA; two nephews, Devarious Rashod, and Tylar Jamal; five nieces, Mahogany, Meyyona, De'Ara, Nashayla, and Janquiz, special friend, Joseph Long, and a host of God-sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
