Sandra DeRamus was born April 6, 1950 in Bessemer, Alabama. She was the third of eight children born to Jimmie and Dannie Mae DeRamus. She accepted Christ at an early age being confirmed and joining Zion Lutheran Church. Sandra attended Zion Lutheran Christian School form the first to seventh grade, then attended Dunbar Junior High School and later transferred to Jackson S. High School graduating in 1968. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stillman College in 1973. Sandra retired from the Social Security Administration after 36 years of loyal service. Sandra departed this life on February 9, 2015 at her residence. She was preceded in death by: her father, Jimmie; mother, Dannie Mae DeRamus and beloved sisters, Stella and Christine DeRamus. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted family: three sisters, Juanita (Magnolia Jr.) Young, Hazel Virdell, Frankie (Vancleef) Tillie; three brothers, Jimmie DeRamus, Glenn DeRamus and Stanley DeRamus; ten nephews, Alford Virdell, Mack (Samantha) Young, Marlon Young, Eric and Derrick Crenshaw, Marcus Young, Samuel Young, Jaylen Huntley and Kevin and Devin Lockhart; five nieces, Jacqueline Young, Keya Tillie, LaToya DeRamus, Aiyanna Steward and Charnell Fowler; two cherished friends, Margaret Brown and Brenda Keenan; a host of other relatives and friends.
