Russell was born July 8, 1946 in Orville, AL. to Russell and Adelaide Hatcher Sr. Russell departed his life Wednesday, January 20, 2010 in Birmingham, Alabama at the VA Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father Russell Hatcher Sr. and sister Mary Evelyn Hatcher. He confessed Christ while enlisted in the United States Army. He lived a life believing in the Power of GOD, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. He attended Robertstown Elem., and Brighton High School. Shortly after High School Russell "Jr." joined the United States Army Where He served in the 101 Air born Division. After he enlisted in the Army he married his former wife Norma J. Ringstaff while serving his country. During his service he fought behind the Berlin Wall and fought in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart (National Defense Service Medal), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal (First Award), Army Occupation Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. After serving in the United States Army he returned home as an E-5 wounded while fighting for his country and our freedom. Later Russell move to New York where he was the proud father of two sons. While living in New York he was employed for Twenty-five years as a PCT at Suffolk State Hospital/Rehabilitation facility until he retired. He returned home to care for his aging mother and began working at Southgate Nursing Home facility for many years. He later joined Trinity Church under Pastor Jimmy Fowlks'. Russell would read the Holy Bible, study and meditate daily on his favorite scripture the Psalm 91. He was a member of the Masonic Organization and selected as Worshipful Master of Ornan Lodge No. 5E.F. & A.M. located in Central Islip, N.Y.
