Ruby L. Boykin, affectionately known as "Meat", was born on September 4, 1947 to the late Fred and Augusta Jackson. Ruby accepted Christ at a very early age and joined Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in Hooper City. Ruby worked for Miles College and the First Baptist Church of Birmingham until her retirement in 2009. Ruby was a member of New Joy Baptist Church in Wylam under the leadership of Pastor Darryl Sharpe where she served in the choir and as a trustee until the Lord called her home.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Freddie Moore and her daughter, Yvonne Scrutchings.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: a loving and devoted husband, Ernest W. Boykin; son, Anthony Dansby (Brenda) of Edgewater Florida; sisters, Annie Mae Hightower Chesapeake, VA, Joyce Bogan and Delois (Kenny) Williams of Birmingham AL; brothers, George Hill (Raleigh), John Jackson (Jackie) of Birmingham, AL and Charles Jackson of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Christopher, Charles, Antoinette, and Anthony Dansby; great grandchildren, Andre, Skylar and Aidan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
