REATHA (M A R EATHA ) W ILLIAMS was born September 15, 1921 in Monroe County, Alabama to Clinton & Ruby Johnson. She was united in holy matrimony to Philip Williams on January 31, 1941, to this union nine children were born. She was the owner and proprietor of MaReatha’s Restaurant. She loved her family especially her boys. MaReatha was most famous for her cooking, baked goods and feeding the community. She was very adamant about education. Her life was full and productive. Reatha recalled moments in her life such as being on the plantation to overseeing her children participate in the Civil Rights Movement. She was able to cast her vote and witness the Inauguration of the first black President. MaReatha was preceded in death by: parents, Clinton & Ruby Johnson; husband, Philip Williams, Sr.; sisters, Rose Mary Williams and Vella Mae York; sons, Phillip Williams, Jr. and Charles Williams; grandchildren, Marcia Williams and Michael Crumady; great grandchildren, Bari Edwards and Baby Girl Williams; great-great grandchild, Tommeria Williams. MaReatha departed her earthly body on December 19, 2015 at 9:18 p.m. at home surrounded by her loving family. Loving memories will remain with: children, Alene (R.C. Rogers) Johnson, Birmingham, AL, Jessie (Charlie) Crumady, Providence, RI, Jimmie (Wanda) Williams, Birmingham, AL, Willie (Mary) Williams, Birmingham, AL, Steven (Gwendolyn) Williams, McCalla, AL, Carolyn Winfield and Connie Williams both of Birmingham, AL; daughter in law, Sharon Williams; twenty five grandchildren, seventy four great grandchildren, thirty seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
