Othis Pippens was born in Bessemer, Alabama to the late A.D. Wedgworth and Hallie Batton on August 15,1921. She confessed hope in Christ at Brush Creek Baptist Church and was baptized by the Late Rev. Mose Fanch. She later moved to Green County Alabama where she married the late L.C. Pippens Oct. 23,1943. Two children proceeded her in death, a daughter Hattie Wedgworth and a son Minister Charlie Pippens (Linda) and one surviving daughter Dorby Veal (Melvin), Indianapolis, Indiana. She moved to Bessemer Alabama in 1966. She later became a member of First Baptist Church South Bessemer in 1969. She later moved her membership to Spring Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where her son Minster Charlie Pippens was the Late Pastor. In 1964, she began her employment with the Corretti family of Birmingham, Alabama. She retired from employment in 2009, to rest but not sit down. She was proceeded in death by one grandchild, Terry Pippens and great-grandchild Eric C. Pippens, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories grandchildren, a special grand-daughter Naomi Pippens, Sonya DeWitt (Cleveland), Eric C. Pippens, Sr., Tracy Wedgworth, Temieka Simpson. Great-grandchildren Martin Richardson, Marcus Wedgworth, Ashley Pippens, Bianca Wedgworth, Darien Pippens, Quinn Pippens. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
