Odessa Brown Pratt Taplin was born March 12, 1935 in Blount County, Alabama to the late Alex and Annie Bell Old Brown. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Shady Grove Baptist Church located in Mulga, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Daniel in 1953.
While her roots began in Alabama, Odessa resided in Chicago, IL, Centerville, MS and eventually moved back to Birmingham on February 2, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husbands.
Left to cherish her precious memories: son, Billy (Hazel) Key, Hueytown, AL; Melvina Shelley, Mulga, AL; stepdaughters, Mary W. Canty, Hueytown, AL and Judith (Joe Zachary) Johnson, LA; caregiver, Terrell Wilson, Centreville, MS; sisters, Evelyn Dial and Earnestine Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
