Mahalia Adlonia Cowan was born November 2, 1940 in Morvin, Al to the late Luther & Mahalia Cowan. She later moved to Chicago, IL where she married the late Franklin Roosevelt Dixon. This union was blessed with three children; Cassandra, Vanessa and Sean. After returning home to Alabama in the 1970's, Mahalia joined Greater St. Paul C.M.C Church in Bessemer, AL where she remained a member until her passing. Mahalia worked in the home-health field and retired from A.B.C Home Health in 1996, after 23 years of service. Dah Dah, as she was affectionately known by most, was a strong, loving Christian. She loved the Lord, her family and friends. She was gracious, kind and a strong force for her family. She enjoyed listening to the radio, talking on the phone and made the best homemade biscuits and teacakes in the world. She was preceded in death by her parent; Luther and Mahalia Cowan, sister; Casandia Battle, brother; Johnny Cowan and daughter; Vanessa Dixon Hollis. She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter; Cassandra Dixon Anderson, son; Sean Dixon (Melissa) daughter; Daphne Ivy, grandchildren; Shaundria, Brittany, Darrius, Ahzia, BriShaun, Klaressa, Trecia, Tabetha, Tiffany, Anthony, Danielle, Emmanuel, Antasia, Andrenita, great-grandchild; Tiyanna, Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
