Sister Lula Bell Megginson Shaw was born on February 8, 1925 in Fairfield, Alabama to the late Doshie and Finnie Reasor Megginson. She was the third of four children. Lula confessed hope in Christ at an early age. In her young adult life she united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ollis Shaw, Sr. She united her Christian faith with the Bethel Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama where she served faithfully for several years. She was a devoted member for Deaconess and the Nurse Guild. Sister Shaw was a faithful member until her death. She also served diligently with the Jerusalem Baptist Church, Bessemer, Alabama for many years. She touched the life of every person she met in a special way. She took care of all people in her life as a wife, a mother, a daughter, a relative, a friend, and a caregiver. She was well known in the community through her service as a member of the Bessemer Voters League, the Christian union, and Shaval's Social and Saving Club. On Friday, February 25, 2011, at 12:43 P.M. a special life on this earth came to a close and she passed from her earthly home to go to her heavenly home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ollis Shaw, Sr., two brothers, Ravizee and L.B. Megginson, one sister, Hattie Megginson Welch, one daughter, Arnease Welch Core, and one son Ralph (Bubba) Megginson. She leaves to cherish her memories: Sons: Ollis (Deloris)Shaw, Jr., Doshie (Brenda) Shaw, Clifton (Mary) Shaw, Eric (Ann) Shaw, all of Birmingham, Alabama, and Robert (Nadine) Dawson of Virginia Beach, Virgina. Daughters: Finnie (Wilbur) Scott, Betty (Rudolph) Hart, Estella Davis, Zearline Welch, all of Birmingham, Alabama, and Willie Belle Fairly of Las Vegas, Nevada. Sister-in-law: Barbara Shaw, Rilla Megginson, and Ruby Shaw; 19 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and other relatives. She will be truly missed by all.
