Lucy Simmons

Lucy Askew-Simmons was born July 14, 1942, to the late Thomas and Zolaree Beverly in Hale County, Alabama. She accepted Christ and began her relationship with God at an early age. She then became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Lucy was united in holy matrimony to Eddie Askew in 1961 and was a devoted and dedicated wife until his death in 1974. She united in holy matrimony to Richard Simmons Jr. on June 23, 2012. On Monday June 25, 2012, Lucy Askew-Simmons exchanged time for eternity. Her life and precious memories shall always be cherished by a loving husband, Richard Lee Simmons Jr., two daughters, Cheryl Askew Battle and Alecia Askew Henderson; six grandchildren, Adam Jr., Adrienne, Alexis, Alyah, Annia and Amyah; one great grandson J'Khari; four sisters, Annie Marie, Mable, Mary, and Betty; eleven brothers, Thomas, Elijah, Norah, Johnny(Deceased), Joseph, Bobby, Henry Lee, Preston, Larry, Michael and Ronald; father-in-law, Richard Simmons Sr.; two sisters-in- law, Walenda and Sonja; one brother-in-law, Alfred; three god sons, Danny Beverly, Dedric and Derek Bland; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
