Lucy Hopkins

Lucy L. Hopkins was born to John and Rosie Logan on November 12, 1934 in Eutaw, AL. She was the fifth child of eight children. She accepted Christ at an early age and was an active member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Martintown where she served on the Usher board. She later became a member of the First Baptist Church of Abernant under the leadership of
Rev. Christerpher Jones where she served on the Usher Board, Culinary Committee, and Pastor’s Aid. At the time of her passing she was a member of The First Baptist Church of Roosevelt under the leadership of Reverend Bobby L. Palmore, Sr. Lucy was a graduate of Dunbar High school, and later went on to graduate from Lawson State Community College.
Once retired from Jefferson County Department of Health for over twenty years of service, she continued to work with UAB as a nurses aid and volunteered with numerous companies such as Kirklin Clinic’s Cancer Research Center. One
program she was most passionate about was Positive Maturity where she served as a senior companion for over ten years. During this time, she was also a consultant for Lady Love Skincare Products. She was an active Member of the Dunbar Alumni Association, and Les Junes Dames Social Club. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Rosie Logan; siblings, Lula, John, Jerry, JL, Emma Jean, and Scott.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: Children; Christerpher ( Patricia ) Jones, Harvey ( Beulah ) Jones, Sharon Robinson, Gregory Jones, Katie ( Malcolm) Craig, and Thomas Hopkins. Grandchildren, Antoun ( California ) Edwards,
Christerpher ( Cristina ) Jones Jr, Antionette Henderson, Jennifer Jones, Alecia (Adam ) McCain, Harvey ( Moshe’) Jones Jr, Gregory Jones Jr. Deandreneka Standford, Sicoria Smith, Tori Jones, MaKayla Craig, and SanToria Hopkins; Great-grandchildren: Marcal, Tongelia, Miauta, Christopher Jr, Landon, Armani, Kashton, Malachi, Jiavanna, King, Matthew, Keziah, Elias, Naarah Yashraal; Great-great grandchildren: De’aury, Layani, Aaliyah, one surviving sister, Elizabeth (Johnnie) Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
