Lucille brown was born to Leroy and Susie Mae Brown on September 10, 1935, in Bessemer, Alabama. She was the oldest of four children. Her siblings are Lula Mae (deceased), Dorothy, and Leroy Jr. (deceased). Her son, Lester Brown, also preceded her in death.
Lucille accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age. She joined 2nd Avenue Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R. T. Thomas. There, she worked with the Sunbeams Band. B.T.U. Sunday School, Junior Choir, and the Junior Mission.
As Lucille transitioned into adulthood, her commitment to her commitment to her faith remained unwavering. She served with the Young Matrons and the Young Adult Choir under the late Rev. C. D. Patterson. Later, she united with the New Bethlehem Baptist Church, only to return to her home church, 2nd Avenue Beulah Baptist, where she remained a faithful member until her health began to decline.
Lucille attended G.W. Carver Junior and High School. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1953. Along with Lucille's sister, Dorothy Terry, she leaves to mourn one son, Dexter (Janice) Brown, and one daughter, Durlyn (Thomas, Jr.) Jackson, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
