Lawrence Levins

A faithful servant, Mr. Lawrence Levins, Sr. was born on April 15,1920 in Dallas County Marion, Alabama. He quietly departed this life early Thursday morning on March 14, 2013. He confessed hope in Christ at a young age, and later moved to Bessemer, AL. where he joined Allen Temple A.M.E. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J.C. Bonne. He served faithfully as an usher until his illness and death. In 1949, Mr. Levins met and married Vera Johnson Levins, who preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death was his oldest son, Lawrence Levins, Jr. Mr. Levins' love for people was demonstrated through his generosity and kindness to share with those in need. He loved and enjoyed caring for his family, community and church. He worked as a Millwright at U.S. Steel located in Fairfield, AL., until his retirement. He leaves to cherish his memory: seven children, Virginia L. Richardson, Pinkie L. Jackson, Deborah L. Wright (Charles Wright), Stanley Levins (Marchellette Levins), Melody Y. Levins, Rickey Levins and Brenda L. Carr (Roger Carr) all of Birmingham; one brother, Burl Levins, Mobile, AL.; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
