Kenneth Barry Long, better known as "KB" was an avid sportsman who loved to play, watch and discuss anything related to sports, such as tennis, ping pong, football, basketball, fishing, and baseball, especially if it was about the Yankees! Ken also enjoyed local and national politics with the same zeal and enthusiasm. KB was born on November 26, 1944 in Bessemer, Alabama to the late William Mack and the late Katie Clark Long. Ken attended Abrams High School and after graduation attended Clark University where he was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Ken later continued his education at Miles College where in 1966 he earned a B.S. in Sociology. He later met and married Jacqueline Long; they were married for 21 years. They entered the Volunteer In-Service To America (VISTA) program, which led them to the Pacific Northwest. The majority of his career was in Social Services, but he also held positions such as Regional Director with Allstate Insurance Company to Veterinarian Pharmaceutical. Though Ken was a natural salesman, he dedicated his career to what he thought would help others.
