Sister Julia Studivant Royal was born September 15, 1921 to the late Ms. Alice Hinton and Mr. Gilbert Studivant. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Fauns dale, AL. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Daniel Royal. In 1956 she moved to Bessemer, AL and joined Macedonia Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. B.B Strowder. Affectionately known as "Lady" by her family and friends, Mrs. Royal served untiringly on the Dining Ministry. She was known for her delicious collard greens and peach cobbler. She loved singing in the Number One Choir and the Combined Choir. She enjoyed the study of God's work in the Adult #2 Sunday School Class, the Missionary Society and the Wednesday night Bible Study. A dedicated and faithful member, hardly ever missing a service, Mrs. Royal truly loved her church and pastor. The Lord called her home on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center, Princeton. Thanking God for her and sharing the memory of her life and four daughters, Alice Royal, Sarah (Joseph) Owens, Linda (Edward) Johnston all of Bessemer, AL and Inez(Derrick) Patten, Clinton, Maryland; three sons, Jerry(Janice) Royal, Guss(Geraldine) Woods and Levie(Beverly) Royal; three sister, Willie Lee Dansby , Uniontown, AL, Lois Dansby Herndon, Virginia; two brothers, Turner Dansby and Robert Dansby, Uniontown, AL; Stepchildren, Mary Royal, Daniel Royal, Patrick Royal and Isaac Royal, Uniontown, AL; eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Royal was preceded in death by two daughters, Reola Murphy and Elizabeth Wynne.
