Johnny Floyd Williams was born on August 22, 1922, to the late James and Lessie Williams in Eutaw, Alabama. A FAMILY MAN... Johnny met and married the love of his life, Ludie Saulsberry. They moved to Bessemer, Alabama, shortly after marrying and began a family. Johnny and his dear wife celebrated 72 years of marital bliss in October. A CHRISTIAN MAN.... Johnny confessed hope in Christ at an early age. Shortly after being married, Johnny joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend B.B. Strowder was the pastor. Johnny was on the usher board there and sang in an all male chorus. In 1967, the family moved to Brighton, Alabama, and Johnny joined the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and as a trustee on the deacon board until his death. Order of Service A WORKING MAN.... Johnny worked several jobs to take care of his family whom he loved. However, he found his career at T.C.I. (US Steel) where he worked for 37 years and eventually retired from. On this job, he proved to be a star. In fact, he received several distinguished awards and bonuses for his inventions which helped operations in various departments run smoother and safer. His colleagues not only respected but they liked him.Johnny leaves to mourn his loyal and faithful wife of 72 years, Ludie. Also mourning are Johnny's nine children: Nettie Grier of Atlanta, GA; Johnny leaves to mourn his loyal and faithful wife of 72 years, Ludie. Also mourning are Johnny's nine children: Nettie Grier of Atlanta, GA; Houston L. Williams (Marianna) of Los Gatos, CA; Henry O. Williams of Atlanta, GA; Willie Mae Peterson (Layton) of Augusta, GA; Rodger Williams (Karen) of Decatur, GA; Theosia Williams of Douglasville, GA; Gwendolyn Field (David) of College Park, GA; James Williams (Alice) of Stockbridge, GA; Domineka Heard (fiancee Aziz) of Helena, AL. {*One son preceded Johnny in death, Johnnie Williams Jr., in 2001}. Two sisters mourn Johnny's death: Carrie Simmons of Canton, OH and Annie Smith of Camden, NJ. Also mourning on this day are a dear cousin, Diane Thomas of Brighton, AL, along with his 29 grandchildren {*One grandson, Kareem Williams, preceded Johnny in death}, 54 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
