Johnny Whitt

Johnny Lee Whitt was born to Marie Griffin and William Whitt on May 10, 1939 in Jefferson County, Alabama. He was his mother’s third of five children and the second son born to this union. Johnny departed this life on Sunday, March 19, 2017. During his life he was baptized at Hill City Ministries in Bessemer, Alabama where he remained a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Frank Nevett. Johnny was a loving devoted husband; father, brother, uncle and friend. He will always be remembered by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by: parents, Marie Griffin and William Whitt; brother, William Whitt, Jr.; sister, Catherine Getaw; son, David Birchfield; grandsons, Charles Birchfield and Prentice Bennett. Left to cherish his memories: loving and devoted wife, Jessie Whitt; children, Lawanda (Rocelius) Custard, Calrea, AL, Latricia (Tony) Birchfield-Jones and Marvin Birchfield both of Bessemer, AL; loving devoted sister JoAnn Blackmon Myles (Lee Curtis); brother, Alexander (Carole) Marks; sister, Gwendolyn Poole; grandchildren, Antonio Birchfield, Korien Custard, Kendamus Custard and Kahmya Custard; great grandchildren, Kamarion Birchfield and Kaidyn Custard; loving devoted nieces, Barbara Ann Paige, MyKeisha Myles, Alashiah Myles and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
