John W. Williams, 63 was born September 2, 1956, to the late J. W. Williams and Maggie Martin in Bessemer, AL.
John was affectionately known as “Mug Eye” and “Ricky”. He professed his life to Christ at an early age under the pastorate of Reverend J. D. King, First Baptist Church, Ninth Street, Bessemer, AL. He was educated in the Bessemer City School System and graduated from Jess Lanier High School.
John united in Holy Matrimony with Gayle Williams and to this union one beloved son was produced Ira Williams.
On Thursday, March 26, 2020, John transitioned from his earthly life. God sent his angels to John to bring him to his heavenly home. He is now home in God’s Kingdom with his loved ones, his devotion and firm belief in God gave him peace.
He was preceded in death by: his beloved and only son, Ira Williams; grandparents, Willie and Clara Long, Sr. and nephew, Dejuan F. Williams.
His memories will be cherished by: loving sisters, Wanda Faye (Minister Erwin) Burts, Sandra and Marilyn Martin; brothers, Donald R. Williams, Vincent Martin, Gary Martin, Carl W. Williams and Reginald Martin; aunts and uncles, Dorothy (Maulta) Studmire, Willie (Brenda) Long, Jr., Ronnie (Lorraine) Long and Robert (Claudette) Long; nephews, Richard and Brandon Williams; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
