Life Reflections Joe Louis Pettigrew was born on January 22, 1937 to the late Mr. Earl Pettigrew and Mrs. Arnell Pettigrew Underwood in Bessemer, Alabama. Joe confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of Starlight Baptist Church. In his early years he attended school in the Muscoda area. Joe had a desire to serve his country and enlisted with the United States Army. He served his country and later returned home a proud veteran. He was preceded in death by: wife, Mildred Pettigrew Smith; daughter, Cassandra Pettigrew; brothers, Oscar, Edward and Elmew Pettigrew; sisters, Betty Jean Gee and Dortha Mae Cook. Left to cherish his memories: sons, Robert Earl and Gerald Louis Pettigrew, Bessemer, AL; sisters, Mamie Lee (Gary) Pettigrew, Bessemer, AL and Emma (Kenneth) Hampton of Southfield, MI; brothers, Freddie Lee, Jessie James, William Earnest (Margaret), Richard Earl Pettigrew of Milwaukee, WI and Archie Lee Pettigrew of Detroit, MI; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
