Leona Wilson Adkins in Hale County, Alabama. She graduated from A.H. Parker High School and the Booker T. Washington School of Business. She later moved to Patterson, New Jersey where she worked as a Dietician Aide at St. Jude's Hospital until she returned home to care for her mother. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Wilson Fallin, Sr. where she served as Assistant Youth Director and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Senior and Mass Choirs, Crusaders, Sun Beams, and Matrons until her health began to fail. She ended her final journey and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 7:45pm in MICU at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL. She leaves to cherish her memories: a very special niece/adopted daughter, Ms. Shenekia N. Adkins; two brothers, Mr. Austin (Marelia) Ash, Jr., and Mr. Curtis D. Adkins ; one nephew, Mr. Michael Ash, Chelsea, Alabama; two nieces, Ms. Marcella Ash, Patterson, New Jersey, Ms. Jacquese C. Dudley, Trussville, Alabama; one great nephew/adoptive grandson, Jaidon R. Ellison, Midfield, Alabama; three great nephews, Brandon M. Ash, Patterson, New Jersey, Jaylon Reese, Trussville, Alabama, Jamyre Reese Trussville, Alabama; one great niece Jamya Pratt, Trussville, Alabama; three aunts Mrs. Ida M. Wilson, Midfield, Alabama, Mrs. Dorothy Jeffries, Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Lucy Wilson, Birmingham, Alabama; one uncle Mr. Ben W. (Ethel) Wilson, Sr., Detroit, Michigan, a host of other relatives and friends.
