Jesse Peoples

Mr. Jesse James Peoples Sr. was born December 5, 1949 in Toomsuba, Mississippi to the late Mr. Timothy and Mrs. Susie Bell Peoples. At the age of one the family moved to Bessemer, AL. He gained his heavenly wings on April 8, 2022 in Memphis, TN.
Jesse accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Sixth Avenue Beulah Baptist Church Bessemer, AL Jesse was a faithful servant believing that God always provides and comforts us. Through life challenges, trials and tribulations, Jesse’s trust and faith in the Lord never faltered. He continued to worship in the many places life took him.
Jesse was known for his quiet demeanor and intelligence. He graduated with honors from Jackson S. Abrams High School in 1968 and Miles College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. While at Miles, he pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. After graduating College, he began his career at the Hunt Wesson Foods Oil Refinery in Fullerton, CA as a Senior Quality Control Technician/Chemist. A few years later he accepted a managerial assignment as Quality Control Manager in Bayonne, New Jersey. As the company reorganized and became a subsidiary of ConAgra Foods, Jesse remained an essential asset to the company due to his expertise in oil chemistry. His career with Conagra Foods afforded him the opportunity to work and live in many places: LaHabra, CA; Chino, CA; Somerset, NJ; Savannah, GA and finally Memphis, TN where he retired after 38 years with the company. Jesse loved reading, gardening, drawing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded into Heaven by his parents and one brother, Willie James Peoples.
Precious memories will forever be cherished by his four loving children, three daughters, Pernethia Arrington, Somerset NJ; Valencia Peoples, Atlanta, GA; Christin (Jarred) Washington, Memphis TN; one son, Jesse James (Aimee) Peoples Jr, Washington DC; five brothers, Timothy (Annie) Peoples, Walnut, CA; Jeremiah (Annette) Peoples, Bessemer, AL; Joseph (Sharon) Peoples, Atlanta, GA; Americus Peoples, Montclair, CA; Emanuel (Teri) Peoples, Lake Elsinore, CA; two sisters, Geneva (Thomas) Wallace, Colton, CA; Caroline (Frederick) Lilly, Montgomery, AL; four grandsons, Jason (Bria) Arrington, Elijah, and David Peoples, Jaylon Washington; one granddaughter, Kayla Arrington; three great-grandchildren, lifelong friend, Henry Lee, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
