Janice Marie Craig-Sherrod was born on July 9, 1957 in McCalla, Alabama to the late Beulah Tannehill Craig and Mr. Jerry Craig Sr.
Janice received her education thru the Jefferson County Public School System and graduated from Mcadory High School in McCalla, AL in 1975. She furthered her education and attended Bessemer Technical Institute earning her LPN license. She was a certified EMT, devoted substitute teacher, she dedicated herself for many years doing charity work for Salvation Army, collecting money for the less fortunate during the holidays and was also a certified food handler and line cook for many years.
Ms. Janice joined McCalla Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church at a young age where she joined the church during revival back in the old school days where you had to sit on the mourning bench. She was a member of the junior choir, and Sunday school. Later, in life Janice would become a member of the Senior Choir under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Green, and the Missionary Society until her untimely illness.
On June 14, 2022, Janice was called to her eternal rest. She was preceded in death by her father Jerry Craig Sr., mother Beulah Tannehill Craig, Brothers Gerald Craig, Earnest Hendrix, and sister Beulah Gaye Craig Jones.
Janice leaves to cherish her memories, three children; two sons Adrian Craig Sr., Ronald Sherrod Jr. (Stephanie) and one daughter Adrianna Jalisa Pugh; 11 grandchildren; seven sisters; Gloria Crenshaw, Beverly Banks, Naomi Davis (David), Louise Craig, Jeralyn Craig, Ethelsteen Conethan(David), Ida Mae Taylor; three brothers; Andrew Craig Sr. (Novellette), Timothy Craig Sr. and Jerry Craig Jr.(Vevencia); Aunt Gardenia Tannehill, devoted cousin/friend Dorothy Jean; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
