Obituary
Gladys Black Kennedy was born November 22, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Frank Black, Sr. and Mable Black. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Roosevelt City. Gladys was a product of the Birmingham City School System having graduated from Wenonah High School. She was employed with Midfield Elementary School for over 20 years.
Gladys met and married Eugene Kennedy and their union lasted for 21 years. A phenomenal mother and person there wasn’t a person who didn’t love her. She touched many lives even though she was a quiet but gentle woman.
She was preceded in death: daughter, Jawanna Faye Kennedy Wayrd; brothers, Parnell Black and Sylvester Black; sisters, Corine Washington and Odessa Fields.
Left to cherish her precious memories: sons, Eugene Kennedy, Jr. and Michael (Carol) Kennedy; daughters, Cheryl Kennedy (Milton) Wormley and Sonya Denise Kennedy; ten grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother, Frank “Bull” Black, Jr,; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
