George F. Brooks was born on May 22, 1964 in Birmingham, AL to the last Robert L. and Helen Brooks. He was reared and spiritually nurtured at the Mt Pilgrim Baptist Church, Fairfield, AL and later joined Saddler's Chapel AME Church, Bessemer, AL. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1982 and continued his education at Jefferson State Community College and Daniel Payne College. He met Jacqueline Black and their love for each other grew. They were married on June 19, 1993 George always had a love for the Lord. He was officially ordained as a minister in the AME Church on June 16, 1996. He served as pastor of Mileous Chapel AME Church, Mt Carmel AME Church, and was serving as pastor of New Home AME Church, West Blocton, AL. On Friday, January 13, 2012, at 10:30 pm, George was called from labor to rest. He is now in a land that is free from sickness, sorrow, pain, and death. He leaves to cherish his memories: a love and devoted wife, Jacqueline Brooks; three daughters, Shenika, Tonnitra, and Mary Brooks; one sister, Helen Shauntae Brooks; step mother, Bernadette Brooks; two nieces and one nephew; 3 sisters-in-law Annie Mae Conley, Barbara (Leroy) Lewis, and Louvenia (John) Caddell ; 4 brothers-in-law David (Teri) Black, Michael (Christina) Black, and Cornell (Deborah) Blace; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and a special friend, Rev. Zoe R Michael.
