Fitzgerald Stephens was born November 26, 1950 to the union of the late Lethonia Stephens, Sr. and Julia Brown Stephens in Bessemer, Alabama. He confessed Christ as his savior at an early age at 21 st Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama where he was baptized.
He proudly serviced his country by joining the Air Force from 1971 -1975 as a Fuel-System Maintenance Tech.
In 1973, he was joined in the bond of holy Matrimony to Cater Campbell of Bessemer Alabama. Fitz and his family moved to Buffalo, New York and joined Greater Faith Tabernacle church, while living in Buffalo he worked and retired from Ciminelli Construction. In 2002 they returned to Alabama where they resided in Alabaster Alabama.
Fitz was very hard working, loving and all about family. He had an amazing smile that would light up a room and was always filled with happiness. His strong faith in God opened doors and allowed him to achieve unbelievable things. He had a playful spirit and would do anything for his grandkids, in which he was very passionate about.
Fitz was preceded in death by father; Lethonia Stephens and mother; Julia Stephens; siblings: twin brothers, Lethonia Stephens, JR and Deacon Larry Stephens, Ann Parker, Arbria Brown “Willie “ (Bobbie), Celonia Gamble (James) and Irene Cole”Red”.
Fitz leaves to rejoice his homegoing: wife, Carter Stephens; children, Tracy Stephens, Lethonia Stephens and Tajine (Mafiak) Benning; grandchildren, Quentin Fitzgerald Stephens, Camron Lee Stephens, and Landon Amir Williams; siblings, Earnest (Lillie) Brown, Joan (Eddie) Miller, Julia Renford and Tilda (John) Freeman, Marie Stephens and brother LT and the Scott family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
