Fannie Maze

OBITUARY
Fannie Ware Maze was born November 29, 1925 to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Ware Sr.  She married at the age of 16 to Cicero Maze Sr; to which 8 children were born. She confessed hope in Christ at a young age, and served faithfully for many years as a matron at The Fifth Avenue Bethel Baptist Church. She also sang in the choir under the current leadership of Pastor Calvin Bell; the late Reverend Nevett and the late Reverend Johnnie Ware (Brother).  Before she became homebound; Mother Maze, as Pastor Bell called her, would many times attend church and watch the live services from the basement, due to health issues. After awhile, she would look and listen to church services on a DVD and have church, as if she was in the church itself.  She also looked forward to receiving communion by one of the visiting Deacons. She loved her church family and especially her Pastor. She always showed genuine respect and reverence for Pastor Bell, who was always so faithful to be present when ever something was happening; whether good times and/or troubling times.
She wore many hats over the years; working as a maid, cleaning homes, raising children and dog sitting for her employers. She was a cook for Edward Poultry, and lastly she was employed at Children’s hospital, where she retired in 1991. After her retirement, she took up bowling and even joined a league. She received an award for being an active member of the league.
Fannie was the oldest girl of 12. She is preceded in death by six brothers Willie, Walter, Johnnie, Charlie, Eddie, Matthew and two sisters; Carrie and Sophia.
She leaves to cherish her memory 8 children; Cicero Maze Jr. (Annie-D), Pastor John Henry Maze (Ella), Willie Maze (Sandra), Lawrence Maze, Mamie Shepherd (John -D), Alfonso Maze (Sametta), Eugene Maze (Deborah), Yvonne Gaines (Raymond), and her adopted niece LaCrystal Scott King.  Two sisters: Lucy Watkins(Chris-D) and Mary Baynes( Clarence); one brother:  Mr. Isaac Ware( Mary), a sister in law and close friend, Mrs. Mattie Ware; 26 Grandchildren; 44 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great - Great Grandchildren; and a host of special Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-Laws, Friends and Church members.
