Evelyn Borom Cobb was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 31, 1942, to the late Charles Borom and Lucille Borom. To this union, she was the eighth of eleven children. Evelyn made her heavenly transition on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
As a young girl, Evelyn confessed her life to Christ. She was baptized and joined Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church under the leadership of Dr. Leon Kennedy.
Evelyn was educated in the Birmingham City School System and graduated from Hooper City High School in 1961. Upon graduation, she relocated to East Chicago, Indiana, where she found her passion in the healthcare field.
Evelyn met the love of her life, Rozell (Roy) Cobb, and they were united in holy matrimony in 1965. To this union, they were blessed with two loving children, Lolita and Rozell, Jr., who were the joy of her heart. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family, having many conversations about current events with her niece, Sabrena Cohen, and trading recipes with her niece, Venus Cobb Gaines.
Evelyn was the CEO of her household, with impeccable management skills. She later retired as a housewife when her husband retired from Inland Steel in 2000. She enjoyed traveling through life’s journey with her husband. The roads they traveled together led them to begin a new life in Bessemer, Alabama, and build their dream home.
Her memories will live on in the hearts of her loving, caring, and devoted husband of 57 years, Rozell (Roy) Cobb; daughter, Lolita Cobb; son, Rozell Cobb, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Saxton and Jeanie (Charles) Akiens; brother, Charles Borom, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Henry Borom, Sr., mother, Lucille Borom, and seven siblings.
