Elon Mims Eldridge was born on April 8, 1961 in Birmingham, AL to Mrs. CarrieM. Eldridge and Mr. Elon A. Mims. Elon was educated in the Bessemer and Midfield School Systems. Elon had a true thirst for knowledge; for he was affectionatley called "Professor."
He was ordained as a Deacon on November 13, 2016 at the New Joy Fellowship Baptist Church by Reverend Darryl C. Sharpe, where he served as the Minister of Christian Education, Sunday School Superintendent, and Teacher for Thursday Night Conference Call Bible Study.
He is preceeded in death by his father, Elon A. Mims, sister, Mattie Cassandra Eldridge, brother, James L. Brown, and grandmother, Lula Roberson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Carrie M. Brown; his very special friend, Johneice Pearson; two sons, Dennis (Khalilah) Gilbert and Jarvis Campbell; two sisters, Judy D. Eldridge and Veretta (Carl) Campbell; three brothers, Willie James Eldridge, Kenneth Eldridge, and Leonard (Kesha) Eldridge; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 aunts, Morline Eldridge of Bessemer, AL and Ithola Rutledge of Greensboro, NC; one uncle, RB (Maude) Acoff of Oakland, CA; a host of nieces and nephews; a host of family and friends; friends and fellow deacons, Deacon Ernest (Ruby) Boykin and Deacon Randy Pruitt.
