Sis. Elizabeth “Liz” Lucas
Sis. Elizabeth Lucas , was born on December 9, 1929 to the Late Mr. Tom & Mrs. Eva Lucas in Faunsdale, Alabama. She was youngest of 4 children; a brother, Robert Lucas and two sisters, Viola Hutchin & Bessie Fitts, all preceded her in death.
She confessed hope in Christ at an early age attending 2nd Avenue Beulah Baptist Church in Bessemer, AL. After moving to Detroit, Michigan she moved her membership to the Temple of I AM, under the leadership of Rev. Gary Simpson. After retirement she returned home and joined the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Larry Norris.
She attended Bessemer & Birmingham City Schools graduating from A. H Parker High School. Upon completion of high school she relocated to Detroit Michigan working as a Patient Care Technician at Providence Hospital. The staff and doctors loved the care she provided and the attention given to patients on the Cardiac Care Unit. She would say “The Doctors would be looking for Liz, because I always did a great job!” Her strong work etiquette allowed her to work for 27 years until her retirement. After retirement, she returned to Bessemer, Alabama.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: children, Carolyn Lucas, Linda (Rev. Larry) Norris, Steven Lucas, Anthony Lucas, all of Bessemer, AL, Ronald (Dorothy) Lucas of McCalla, AL, Bernetta Davis and Gina Lucas of Birmingham, AL; 24 Grandchildren; 40 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great- Great Grandchildren; two very special nieces, Hazel Lucas and Eva Lucas of Detroit, MI; special family friend, John; special daughter, Tonya Lucas-Pruitt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
