Obituary
Edward (Sonny) Boykin was born on November 12, 1947 in Woodstock, Alabama to the late Neil Ruth Boykin-Peterson and Charlie Johnson.
After graduating from Brighton High School in 1966, Edward joined the United States Army. As a solider he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He later retired from Jim Water Coal Mine where he was employed for over twenty years.
Edward proclaimed his love for Christ at an early age. He answered the call to be with the Lord on May 10, 2019 at 1:01 a.m. at UAB Medical West Hospital.
Edward’s memories are cherished by: his loving daughters and son-in-law, Taura Boykin, Bessemer AL; Shona (Roderick) Johnson , Pleasant Grove, AL; Latisha Boykin, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Arlandra Boykin and Arlando Boykin; sister: Surlester Boykin; brothers; Clinton (Angie) Peterson, and Thomas (Velma) Peterson.
