Reflection of Life
Doris Mae Patterson was born to the late Henry and Emma Rodgers on March 25, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Metropolitan C.M.E. Church located in Birmingham, Alabama. Doris was the baby of the family, the fourth of four children she took pride in taking care of her family and raising her seven children.
She met and married Reverend Willie Patterson, Sr. in 1983 and together they traveled, shopped and thoroughly enjoyed being together. Doris enjoyed working tirelessly at Weeping Mary Baptist Church and as first lady at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa.
Doris was devoted and prudent worker at Social Security Administration until she retired. She was preceded in death by: daughter, Elaine; son, Myron; siblings, John Miller Rodgers, Sr., Benjamin Rodgers and Herman Rodgers.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: loving and devoted husband of 35 years, Reverend Willie Patterson, Sr.; five children, Mary Emma Kelley, Sandra Moore, Robert Cowen, Sr., Dwight Cowen (Cynthia) and Thomas Cowen; special godchildren, Lloyd Watson and Elaine Jones; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives & friends.
