Obituary Dorothy Jean Stevenson better known as “Dot” was called home at the age of 75 at her home in Midfield, Alabama on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Dot confessed hope in Christ our Lord and Savior at an early under the leadership of Reverend Samuel Marshall at Sixth Avenue Beulah Baptist Church. Born to Ollie Birchfield, Dorothy was married most of her adult life to Joe Stevenson and to this union five sons were born. Dorothy would always stress to her boys that hard work pays off as she went back to and earned her GED. She went on to become an X-Ray technician at UAB Hospital and retired with 25 years of service. A faithful member of Sixth Avenue Beulah Baptist Church, Dorothy was also a member of the choir. For those who knew her Dot was known as down to earth person and you always knew where you stood with her. Her love of music and enjoyment of life was infectious. She went on to live the rest of her life in her home with her youngest son, Stanley by her side with his fiancé and family. Our mothers love is something that we cannot explain. It is made of deep devotion, sacrifice and pain; it is endless, unselfish and nothing can destroy it or take that love away. Dot’s love was pure. It does not require words because in everything she would do you could feel her love. That’s real love that cannot be made. Dorothy is survived by: five sons, Stephany. Eric, Kelvin, Joe, Jr. and Stanley Stevenson; twelve grandchildren; brother, Donald Gilbert; sister, Shirley Gilbert and a host of other relatives and friends.
