Dorothy Jackson Dudley, age 77, of Bessemer, AL was called home on Monday, March 7, 2011. "Dot", as she was affectionately known, was reared in the Powderly community of Birmingham, AL. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1950 and then matriculated at Miles College earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then attained her Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Alabama in 1972. As an educator in the Jefferson County School system she taught at Red Ore Elementary, Addison Elementary, and Alliance Elementary. She retired in 1989 and thereafter, continued to work as a substitute teacher for the Bessemer City School system. As an educator she inspired her students to cherish knowledge and to strive for excellence. She was a faithful member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church for over forty years. Dorothy lead her life with grace, beauty and kindness. She leaves to cherish her memories: son, Henry Anthony Dudley, II (Che'Ree); twin daughters, Darlisa Michelle Dudley and Darlene Maria Dudley; two grandsons, Enye' Blocker, Henry Anthony Dudley, III; granddaughter, Johanna Marie Dudley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
