Doris Evans

Doris Lee Evans (affectionately known as “Dot”) was born on March 12, 1945 in Gainesville, Alabama to the late Lonnie and Ella Jane Price. She departed this life on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.
Doris confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ware. After moving to Bessemer, Alabama, she joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R.L. Starkey and later W.L. Fairbanks. Later, she became a member of the Living Church of God under Pastor Anthony Stroud where she remained a faithful member until her death.
She attended Brighton High School in Brighton, Alabama. She meet and married her love Sterling L. Evans, had a daughter and moved to Harlem, New York. Together they raised the rest of a beautiful family and the Evans legacy was born. She continued her education and received her high school diploma from Whadleigh High School in NYC. She worked at NYNEX Cooperation (Bell Atlantic Telephone Company [South Bell]) until she retired in 1993.
Mama Dot was a devoted mother who cherished her time with family and friends. Whenever you see her, she was always smiling and having a good time. Singing and dancing around the house, church, at family BBQs and reunions were her specialty. She spent time visiting and checking in on others at the nursing home. When she was going through her sickness, she still found the time to call and check on others to find out if they were OK. She is saying,” Family I miss you soooo much, be good and always remember my life with you!”
Her legacy will live on in the hearts and mines of everyone she interacted with.
She was proceeded in death by three brothers Clarence J. Price, Harold Price,and Carl Price; sisters, Lizzie Price, Flozella Price, Alice Tanksley, Rosa L. King, Doreatha Price, Charlotte E. Steele, Betty J. Harris.
Her beautiful memories will be cherished by husband, Sterling Lee Evans; children, Tammy Stewart, Dover, DE; Sterling Evans Jr., Bronx, NY; Michelle Evans, Henderson Evans, Harold Evans all of Birmingham, AL; 16 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; three loving sisters: Stella Long; Sadie B.(Leo) Atkinson; Rudine Harris of Springfield OH; one sister-in-law Mary Price; God-daughter, Nicole P. Atkinson.
