Donald Keith Williams, aged 64, passed away peacefully on
July 6th, 2023, in Birmingham, AL, at the VA hospital. He
was born on October 19, 1958, in Birmingham, Alabama,
to the late Daisy and Fred B. Williams Sr. From this union,
they were blessed with four children, two bothers that
proceeded him in death Fred B. Williams Jr., and Reginald
Lanier Williams. Donald Keith Williams was a beloved
brother, cherished friend, and respected member of the
community.
He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and entered
Christian fellowship with First Baptist Carver Church. Later,
he transitioned to New Bethlehem Baptist Church under the
pastorate of Reverend William H. Walker.
He was born and raised in Alabama and served in the
armed forces during his earlier years. In the later part of his
life, he excelled in his career at GATX, making significant
contributions until his retirement due to failing health.
He was known for his sense of humor and will be
remembered as a well-dressed charmer. He brought
laughter and joy to the lives of many with his unique laugh,
fancy footwork, and huge smile. His presence will be
greatly missed by all who knew him.
He had a zest for life, and as a loving person, he cherished
spending time with his family and friends, creating precious
memories that will be cherished forever. He had a passion
for socializing, dancing, and watching cowboy series.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and
compassion. He is survived by his son La’Wayne McCormick
of Bessemer, AL, and two grandchildren, Arielle Marie, and
Justin La’Wayne McCormick. He is also survived by two
sisters, Betty Nelson of Bessemer AL, and Tamike (Artega)
Kyles of Pleasant Grove AL. Three aunts, four nieces, four
nephews, as well as a host of family, friends, and colleagues
who will forever cherish the memories shared with him.
