Debra “Sapphire” James was born August 13, 1954 in Flat Creek, Alabama to the late Nathaniel Hall and
Viola Mack. She confessed hope in Christ and joined Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of
Reverend C.L. Parker. During her time there she was a member on the Usher Board.
Debra attended Colinwood High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Later in life, she moved back to Alabama.
During her time in Alabama she was employed with Marshall Durbin and Hardee’s. She was very
passionate about entertaining others. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Earnest James;
brothers, Nathaniel Hall, Jr. and Carl Edward Hall.

Roy (Shirley) Penick and Otis (Phyliss) Penick both of Dora, AL; sisters, Myra Hall, Birmingham, AL and
Monica Patterson of Cleveland, OH; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; special friends, Ken
Moore, Sumiton, AL, Georgia Harris, Dora, AL and Janice Crenshaw, Birmingham, AL and a host of aunts,
uncles. Cousins and friends.
