Daniel Webster

Daniel Webster, Jr. "Big Dan" was born November 2, 1969 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel (Geraldine) Webster, Sr. in Bessemer, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and later joined the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He served in many roles while at Oak Grove. Dan was a 1988 graduate of Hueytown High School where he was very active in sports and played on the varsity football team. He received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama. While attending the University of Alabama he pledged Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He was also a member of the Crimson Tide football team. In 1994, Dan took a leap of faith and relocated to California. While in California, he became affiliated with Glory to God Ministries International under the leadership of Dr. Randy Brodhagen, Pastor. Dan's interest in physical fitness lead to him becoming a personal trainer and worked at the Palm Valley Country Club. His clientele included some of the more notable celebrities in the entertainment industry. Being raised in the south, Dan was accustomed to good ole southern cooking which he sorely missed. As a result, he opened "Big Mamma's Soul Food" restaurant. Big Mamma's was a huge success, with customers coming from far and near. Although he was far from home, he incorporated his southern roots into his new big city establishment. His southern food passion earned him many awards and recognition in the restaurant arena. In 2009, Dan started his own line of BBQ sauce called Big Dan's BBQ sauce. This sauce is sold in major stores in the West. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: three sisters, Carol Young, (Bessemer, AL), Diana Faye (Charlie) Jones, (Center Point, AL), and Fredericka Webster, (Bessemer, AL), one brother Derrick Webster, (Bessemer, AL), three nieces, DeAnna Curry, Kahlis Donnaway, Courteni Stringer, four nephews, Clifford Young, Kobi Dunnaway, Kaleb Webster and D'Quan Webster, one great niece Seleya Young.
