Deaconess Cynthia Stevens Southall was the fifth child born to the late Deacon Willie and Vashti C. Stevens on November 25, 1957. She received Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Roosevelt under the pastorate of the late Rev. H.M. Morton. She sang in the Angelic Choir, First Baptist Church Choir, Roosevelt, Friendship Baptist Church Choir and Antioch Baptist Church Choir, Pipeshop. She attended Roosevelt School, A.G. Gaston Junior High, Rutledge Junior High and Midfield High School Class of 1976. She matriculated to Birmingham Area Skill Center and Lawson State Community College. Later she met Earnest Lee Southall, Jr. and they were united in holy matrimony on May 4, 1979. To this union, two children were born: Earnest, III and Latrice Erica. Afterwards, she moved her membership to New Hope Baptist Church with her husband where she remained a faithful member and Deaconess until her health failed. Cynthia was employed at Beverly West and Fairfield Nursing & Rehabilitation for nineteen years where she worked iin many different capacities. She was preceeded in death by two brothers: David L. Collins, Sr. and Michael E. Stevens, Sr.; two nephews david L. Collins, Jr. and David Maurice Collins III: niece Rena Long. Cynthia departed her earthly home on March 9, 2011. Her life will live on through her loving and devoted husband: Deacon Earnest L. Southall, Jr.; daughter, Erica L. Southall; a son Earnest L. Southall III; one granddaughter Deerika R. Southall; one grandson, Kenyalle J Southall; God daughter, Shavven Williams; Sisters Barbara (Sid) Bryany, Shirley Wilson, Elizabeth Price, and Ora Faye Carter: brothers; Reginald Stevens, Marcus a Stevens, Anthony (Ella) Gardner: Special Neices, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and special family the Kindal and Jones. She will be remembered for her kind spirit and her beautiful smile.
