Cynthia Hobdy

Cynthia Taylor Hobdy, 66, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on December 31, 2023, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born on October 1, 1957, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Marion and Lessie Mae Taylor. Cynthia graduated from Minor High School, Class of 1974.

Cynthia became a Welder at Trinity Industries in Bessemer, Alabama. She later attended Birmingham City College of Allied Health, where she obtained her C.N.A. License. She began a career of taking care of the elderly at Oak Trace Nursing Home. Cynthia's love for her patients was well known and appreciated. She retired in 2019 and found great joy in helping to take care of sick ones in her family. She took exceptional pleasure in taking care of her sisters, Linda and Freddie.

In her free time, Cynthia enjoyed drawing and cooking. Her artistic abilities and culinary creations brought joy to those around her. Cynthia was associated with the Southwest Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and her hope was that when she died, Jehovah God, through his son, Jesus Christ, would call her name to stand up and she would answer.

Cynthia Taylor Hobdy will be remembered for her generosity, kind-heartedness, caregiving skills, artistic talent, and culinary expertise. She leaves behind cherished memories with her loved ones and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lessie Mae Taylor; her father, Marion Taylor; brothers, Willie J. Monroe, Christopher Taylor, and Marion Taylor, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Alice Monroe.

Cynthia leaves to cherish her memory: five sisters, Freddie M. Thomas (Willie O.), Sandra D. Rice (Willie James), Marionette Sims, Linda Purifoy, and Jacqueline Taylor; one brother, Michael Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
