Corey Miller

MR. COREY A. MILLER the son of Rev. Sylvester and Mary (Anderson) Miller, III. was born March 23, 1972 in Flint, Michigan. His family moved back to their home state of Mississippi where Mr. Miller spent most of his elementary years attending school in various systems. Later, returning to Flint, he continued his education, graduating from Northern High School in 1990. Mr. Miller faced many health challenges throughout his life which were, at times, severe. But he never gave up his pursuit of a better life. Following high school graduation, he went on to attend Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. After years of struggling with health problems and other life demands, he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work from Rust College in 2002. Because of his severe health challenges, he moved to Bessemer, Alabama in 2003 to be near his parents and was employed by the Alabama Department of Human Resources. Mr. Miller was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church where he sang with the choir and praise team. He leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Rev. Sylvester and Mrs. Mary Miller, III of Bessemer, Alabama; three sisters, Dr. Cecilia and James Sims of Flint, Michigan, Rev. Dr. ChakaHier and Ronald Oliver of Bessemer, Alabama, and Tamra and GranVille Caldwell of Charlotte, North Carolina; two aunts Mable Wesley of Sanford, Florida, and Catherine Miller of Louisville, Mississippi; one uncle Dr. F.P. and Louise Miller, of Evansville, Indiana; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved pet, Neo. His brother Cornelius A. Miller preceded him in death in 1999.
