Deacon Clarence Evans, was born to the parents of Cleamark and Josephine Evans in Sumter County, Alabama. Both parents preceded him in death. Clarence confessed Christ at an early age. He attended school in Forkland, Alabama. He later moved to Bessemer, Alabama met and married Cassie Lewis the love of his life and soul mate. Upon moving to Chicago, IL. his love for Christ he fellowshipped with True Right Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, Illinois. Later he joined and was ordained as a deacon. After living in Chicago for a number of years he moved back to Birmingham and joined New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor William H. Walker, Sr., where he served faithfully until death. He was part of the Deacon Ministry, Mens Sunday School Class, Brotherhood Ministry, Evangelistic Ministry and Overseer of Young Adult Usher Ministry. His only sibling Cleamark Evans, Jr. preceded him in death. Also, grandchildren Jermaine Jennings, Chris Knox and Rosetta McDuffie. He transitioned this life March 2, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center, Princeton. His memories will be cherised by: his wife of sixty-five years, Classie Lewis-Evans; three sons, Clarence, Jr. (Pamela) Chicago, Illinois, Joseph (Shirley) Bessemer, Alabama, Jimmy (Thomasina) Knox, Birmingham, Alabama; one daughter, Linda Hutchins, Birmingham, Alabama; one brother-in-law, Malachi Jackson, Jr., Bessemer, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren, LaTarsha (Lee) Rainey, LaShawdna, LaJunda, Chanelle, Lawrence, DeJoungus Evans, Clarence Conley, Chicago, Illinois, LaTisha Hutchins, Markelius Hutchins, Jimmy Knox, Jr., Derrick Knox, Birmingham, Alabama, Sir Michael Broom, Givovoda Minard, both of Bessemer, Alabama; nineteen great-grandchildren, special cousins: Viola Fuqua, Schertz, Texas, Charles Brown, Birmingham, Alabama, a host of relatives, friends, his New Bethlehem Church family and a special friend Mr. Alfonso Evans.
