Ms. Cherry Ann Washington affectionately known as “Lil Bit” was born to the late Oscar and Ruby Washington on October 4, 1952. Cherry committed her life to Christ at an early age.
Cherry graduated from Brighton High School in 1971 and after graduating high school she worked at Jimez’s Restaurant in Hueytown, Alabama. Cherry went on to work for the Arlington Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, Alabama where she retired in 2018.
On Friday February 18, 2022 “Lil Bit "gained her wings surrounded by her loving family. Cherry was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Ruby Washington, her stepmother Willie L. Washington, her daughter Danita “Renee” Washington, and grandson Eric “Lil E”
Washington.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter Monica Griffin of Brighton, Alabama; three brothers Willie (Loretta) Jackson of Dolomite, Alabama, Oscar Washington of Struthers, Ohio and Damon Washington of Bessemer, AL; two sisters Sharron Washington of Detroit, Michigan and Evelyn Washington Marks of Bessemer, Alabama; two grandsons Brent (Jenaye) Washington and Cordell Washington of Brighton, Alabama; two granddaughters Ashley Washington and Brandy Griffin both of Brighton Alabama; special niece Yolanda Washington also from Brighton, Alabama; 14 great grandchildren: Kamran, Chloe, Kaliyah, Carmen, Kennedy, E’Manie, Maddison, Mason, Carter, Cordell Jr., Camden, Keundre, Keshawn and Keneen. She leaves to mourn a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends.
